The Directorate of Government Examinations has been entrusted with the onerous responsibility of conducting the Board examinations for the students studying in the State Board in Std X and XII. The mark certificates issued to the students of standard X and XII is considered as a vital and valued document for continuing higher education and for seeking job opportunities.
Apart from above, This Directorate is conducting examinations and issuing certificate for Diploma in Elementary Education , Government Technical Examinations and ESLC (Eight Std – Private Study). In addition , Scholarship Examinations such as NMMS, TRUSTS and National Talent Search Examinations are conducted by this Directorate.
Tamil Nadu State Open Board has entered into its adulthood and completed two decades of its existence in the field of Regular, Private, Open and Distance Learning (ODL) in the school education sector. This journey of the Board has been quite successful. With about 1 million students on its roll, the Tamil Nadu State Open Board is credited to be the largest school Board in the world with significant popularity in the Commonwealth countries and in certain other developing and developed countries.
Tamil Nadu State Open Board has been offering Secondary and Senior Secondary courses through its study centres and Open Basic Education Programme through Accredited Agencies.
Tamil Nadu State Open Board not only offers a wide spectrum of courses of study up to the pre-degree level for all categories of learners, but also works as a nodal institute for carrying forward the regular and open school movement in the country in order to achieve the objective of developing an inclusive learning society.
